I’m forever on the lookout for something to help with the chronic sinus/nasal congestion. I’ve already mostly exhausted the formal medical route. The conclusion was that I don’t have allergies and I don’t have any structural, anatomical problems. That’s to say that they don’t know the cause. They said there’s something that’s an irritant probably.

Presently, I do the Fluticasone/Flonase spray. And, I’m hesitant to try the Afrin spray because of my BPH situation.

And, I’ve been coming across stuff about a supplement called FENNEL.

Fennel is a member of the carrot family, though it’s not a root vegetable. The base of its long stalks weave together to form a thick, crisp bulb that grows above ground. Above the bulb, at the tip of the stalks, it has light, feathery leaves that resemble dill. When it goes to seed, fennel also produces small yellow flowers among the leaves.

And, this Fennel stuff seems to cure everything…well…it seems to have a lot of different uses. The one that interests me:

Helps clear sinus and congested nasal passages
Fennel seeds are a good source of Phytonutrients that works to clear out clogged nasal passages. It helps cure sinus and relieve asthma symptoms. They are also served in the form of a tea for their expectorant properties, which is beneficial for the people suffering from cough, bronchitis and asthma.

I see you can buy Fennel capsules for pretty cheap on Amazon where someone says,

“My son has a sinus condition that causes bad breath, fennel is the ONLY thing that takes it away! I bought Swanson Fennel because of the price + shipping.”

From what I understand, there are a lot of fake reviews on Amazon, so…whatever. I’ll buy some and give them a try and then report back after giving it a few weeks or so…

Update 19 days later: I’m leaning towards saying the fennel is helping. It’s hard to make these determinations because there are a number of variables at play. But, in an intuitive sense, I think it’s have a positive effect. Though, I’m not 100% on that.
