Online I found this last use inventory. It’s called Last Use The 3 Ps. The 3 Ps refers to Play-mates, Play-grounds, and Play-things.

The idea behind this “last use inventory” is that if an individual relapses, they then fill out this form to better understand WHY they relapsed.

I’m posting this here because I personally want to have a record of it on this website to allow easy access. Additionally, other addicts might find it useful. It seems to me personally that this could be damn useful for self-understanding whether you’re clean or in the active addiction of a relapse. I’d go so far as to say that some of the questions on here could be self-enlightening for anyone. Particularly the section about “unmanageablitlity.”

I’m going to print this out and complete it. I left spaces in the formatting so there’s room to write in your answers if you want to also print it out and give this a try. I think it will help me to get a better understanding of my addiction.

Complaints Inventory
Unmanageability is best seen as the unsolvable problems that exist in our lives. These
problems have at their root a complaint or fixed idea about how life SHOULD or
SHOULDN’T be. The average person usually has (8) persistent complaints about life at
all times in their life. Over time, these complaints change, or evolve, into other
complaints but the universal experience is to have (8) at all times. To qualify as a
complaint, the sentence, once formed must contain one of the following “complaint
words”: Should, Should’ve, Shouldn’t, Can’t, Always, Never, They, and Them. This
word is followed by a “Because” statement.
STRUCTURE: COMPLAINT WORD + BECAUSE STATEMENT= COMPLAINT
Here are some examples of Complaint Statements:
I can NEVER trust anyone again BECAUSE everyone lies. I ALWAYS get hurt BECAUSE no one loves me. I SHOULD
be able to handle my drug use BECAUSE I am not like everyone else in these rooms. I SHOULDN’T have to pay so
much child support BECAUSE she doesn’t even spend the money on the kids. I SHOULD’VE finished High School
BECAUSE I can’t get a good job without a diploma. I NEVER catch a break BECAUSE I am cursed. THEY don’t like
me BECAUSE I don’t like rap music. I went to jail BECAUSE of THEM.
List your (8) complaints in single sentences containing the following:
My complaints are as follows:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.

Which of my complaints will be removed or alleviated if I use?

What good can come of my using?

What will really happen to me and others if I do use again?

What good reasons do I have to believe my answers?

Do I wish to avoid the next opportunity to use?

What am I grateful for today?

Is that the best you can do? Come up with five (5) more……
